This particular expression is an 18-year-old single malt that has undergone full maturation in casks crafted from the rare mizunara oak. Mizunara wood is only found in select regions of Japan and is notoriously challenging for coopers to work with. However, the skilled artisans at Suntory have honed their techniques over the years, enabling them to identify suitable trees and create these remarkable casks. Crafted by the talented chief blender Shinji Fukuyo, this whisky was intended to be a captivating and unforgettable experience – a goal we believe he has undeniably achieved.
